This review is for M510 users who are returning. If you have this mouse, you should know that Logitech has changed the design a bit. The new “2nd Edition” M510 with its new logos (hijacked as M510S or something else missed) now has a “laser-grade” optical sensor, unlike the old “true laser” sensor. After a deep dive for some information, the internet experts at several first page forums have confirmed that there are a few facts for me. First, the optical sensor is not necessarily a drop. The laser sensors have their own problems – some of the complaints on the old 510 are likely to cause these pinpoints, flicker, and swings – and the modified design will fix those concerns. However, laser sensors have a higher DPI resolution, which means they are more accurate. Traditional wisdom may hesitate to buy you this new M510S. Why does the ‘new’ model have LESS DPI? What a disgrace!
